Q: which itunes version is compatible with ipod touch 3.1.3 version

The updated itunes is not compatible with my ipod as i've been told it is now obsolete

Could someone advise me which version of itunes I can download so i'll be able to use again please

My ipod is version 3.1.3 and i've been told it's from 2009 (immaculate condition so I don't want to buy a new one)

Your iPod has been categorized as "obsolete" (by Apple) for a long time.    But that does not mean it no longer works with iTunes.

What does not work?  I have an original iPhone from 2007 that runs iOS 3.1.3 as its latest version.  I just connected it, after upgrading to iTunes 12.4, and it still appears in iTunes.  I did not try "everything" but I was able to sync a few dozen songs without problems.

Also, my MUCH older iPods from 2003-2004 still work fine with the latest iTunes.  Just tried them too.

NOTE:  If your iPod touch is from 2009, it may be able to run a later version of iOS.  Can you identify the exact model ("generation") from this document?

I deleted itunes a few months ago as advised by an apple advisor on an online chat.

From what I can remember I could not transfer any music from my itunes to my ipod, i'm sure it couldn't find my ipod.

I've looked at the link and can't find my exact model, the model number is MA627ZO

As you can probably tell i'm not very good with technical things

When I search the web with "MA627ZO," it seems to come back as a 1st gen iPod touch, which is a bit older than 2009.  It's the same "generation" as my old 1st gen iPhone.  iOS 3.1.3 is the latest version of iOS it can run, if it's a 1st gen iPod touch.

So... do you have a computer now with iTunes installed?  If so, what happens when run iTunes and connect the iPod to the computer with a USB docking cable?  Does the iPod still charge?  Does the iPod start up and get to its main menu screen?

Oh, I see...  If your computer runs Windows 8, you should download the latest version of iTunes

I'm trying to download itunes and I keep getting the message

an installation for apple application support 964-bit) is currently suspended  you must undo the changes made by that application to continue. Do you want to undo those changes?

there is a yes and a no box..... i'm unable to click yes and when I click no the box comes up again and again, I can't seem to move on.

I've tried to delelte all itunes on my laptop as i've been trying to download and not been successful and the same box comes up.

Do you think i need someone that knows about computers to sort this lol

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach.

Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.

The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with third party software.

Your library and device backups should be unaffected by these steps but there are links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

If your iOS device isn't showing in iTunes try the following:

    1. Open Control Panel > Device Manager
    2. Plug in your device
    3. Locate Universal Serial Bus Controllers > Apple Mobile Device USB Driver.
It is also possible the device may show under Imaging Devices, Portable Devices or Other Devices or as an MTB USB Device.
    4. Right-click and select Update Driver Software...
    5. Click Browse my computer for driver software
    6. Browse to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers or
                      C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
    7. Click Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
    8. Click Apple Mobile Device USB Driver
    9. Click Next, then Close and exit Device Manager

For step 3 above, open the device manager. Expand any of these sections that are listed.

    • Universal Serial Bus Controllers
    • Imaging Devices
    • Portable Devices
    • Other Devices

Connect the device. You should hear the telltale sound of Windows device connection and one section should gain a new entry. That should be your device. It may not be labelled correctly at this stage. If you don't hear a noise suspect a damaged cable.

Or try If iTunes doesn‘t recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod - Apple Support

Failing that try a full tear down and rebuild of iTunes as set out in Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

Or lastly try rolling back to the last build of iTunes that worked for you. See iTunes installers for download links. If you're rolling back from 12.4.0.119 to 12.3.3.17 or 12.3.2.35, for example, then you'll also need to roll back the database in the way described in Empty/corrupt iTunes library after upgrade/crash. The tip includes suggestions for reintroducing any recent purchases so at worst you lose a few playcounts and/or a recently created playlist.

Thank you, I think this is all above what I can do.

I've contacted an IT person to see if they can help me, i've spent about 6 hours on this today (and many hours on other days) so I will now admit defeat .... and i'm not impressed with apple support, not you people on here, the general support, which I know they say i'm not entitled to now as my ipod is obsolete
