Icloud email is unusably slow on all devices including IOS

Hi,

In the past several weeks, I have noticed that icloud is ridiculously slow to handle requests to access email. This is true on my iPhone 6, my old iPad, my Mac, and my PC using Outlook as a front end.

Moving or deleting an email takes upwards of 20 to 30 seconds. Opening an email take 15 seconds.

On my iPhone, deleted emails reappear at some later time, presumably because the request to the server to execute the delete command timed out.

I have searched the web and found lots of old complaints about this, but nothing new in 2016. This is definitely a new and frustrating problem. I may have to abandon iCloud.

iPhone 6s, iOS 9.3.2, Also Outlook, Mac

A couple of options --

- try rebuilding the mailbox (if you haven't already) - Mail (Mountain Lion): Rebuild mailboxes

- reindex message - for El Capitan, try looking in V3 -- Rebuild the Spotlight index on your Mac - Apple Support

- reindex message (option 2) - see post by Linc Davis -- Email messed up ever since upgrading to Yosemite. The mail icon remains on the toolbar and I can open if I click into full screen and read the emails. I cannot send any emails. This is a huge problem.

If those options don't work, you could try reaching out to Apple Support.

I have seen this ongoing problem continue to persist, and folks continue to complain about it, so my last suggestion would be to consider using another email provider.

Good luck!

Thank you for taking time to help me with my problem.

Unfortunately, since the problem exists on all front-end applications, including the native web application written by Apple, the suggestions are not helpful. 40 seconds to delete an email or reply to an email or send an email is ridiculous, and Apple should be ashamed.

That is helpful, to a point. If it is not a general problem, then maybe Apple has it out for me? The rest of my web experience is acceptably fast. This slow issue happens on Safari, Chrome, and Firefox. It happens at work and at home. I feel like somehow Apple has me set to communicate to a server in Korea, or something. Any suggestions to help me debug this would be much appreciated.

All,

Thank you again for your comments and the time you took to respond to my concerns.

I am happy to report that the issue has been fixed, unceremoniously, in the middle of the night, My icloud email performance is now equal to or better than gmail.

Unfortunately I have no information to add regarding what changed, what got fixed, or if (indeed) my behavior had anything to do with this. I can simply state that I made no changes on my end other than rebooting one of my computers. (Recall this happened on three computers (Mac, PC), and using Outlook as well as the web-based portal on three different web browsers.)

Thank you,

Bill
