Q: Motion - Final Cut Title - Alignment of linked text

I have created a Final Cut Title in Motion 5.

I then copied the text to another layer and created an animation.

The text of the first one, is published, so I can customize it later in Final Cut Pro X.

So the second text matches the user edited text, I've added a link to the text using source: Object.Text, destination Object.Text.

When I the use it in Final Cut, the text is nicely changed, and I'm able to even chaged font, size etc.

The problem is, that the alignment of the second text is left, even I specified it to be centered.

How can fix this?

Can I somehow link the alignment for another text?

Here is how it looks in Motion 5:

Here is the title in Final Cut Pro X, where the animated text has left alignment instead of centered:

You want to make a Clone Layer copy of the text, not link it.

no fix, seems to be a bug (feature??)

noticed the same when creating my free NEON-plugin:

for unkown reasons, the duplicate  of a title is left-aligned, allways.

(clones don't allow new settings, different from original, Ben - therefor clone )

so, I set the original to left-aligned too and published an x-slider

    not A-grade, but ....... a workaround....

    Thanks BenB!

    That worked great.

Now I'm able to get the right alignment.

Next issue is to find out how to do what I did before

When it's a clone layer, I'm no longer able to modify the texts behaviour and add a glow.

This is a small problem, that I can fix otherwise

    Thanks!

I am able to apply Behaviors or keyframes to the Clone layer just fine.

I'm able to apply a Glow filter to the Clone layer just fine.

Not sure why you're unable to.

Karsten; yes, he wants both layers to align the same, so Clone is what he needs to use, since he needs BOTH to be center aligned.

    @Ben

    try this

    Goal:

    aligntest.jpg

creating a M5 Title, variable text input in FCPX.

Design: two layers, diff. design, same content

    Balser method CLONING:

Both layers same content, but same look … how do you change e.g. weight or color of clone?

    not optional with clones....

    Other method DUPLICATING

Both diff. look, same content by linking, but diff. alignment

    I made a screen-recording ... demoing how M5 changes the text-alignment ...
