Adobe Flash Update Error

Yesterday I was wanting to run a video and instead of the player loading, in the center its said my Flash Player was out of date , so I installed a new version, Version 21.0.0.242 . I still the same issue, saying my version is out of date, so I reinstalled it. Same thing keeps happening. I went to the Security settings in Preferences and it says this: "The version of 'Adobe Flash Player' on your computer has known critical security issues. Also the version it was showing on the left was Version 21.0.0.213.

Can someone tell me what's going on with this? Thanks.

1. System Preferences > Flash Player > Advanced > Delete All

Press the "Delete All" button under “Browsing Data and Settings”.

Install Adobe Flash Player.

Download it first.

The next step is important.

Click Safari in the menubar and select “Quit Safari”.

Follow the prompts and install it.

Restart computer. Relaunch Safari.

2. Allow Plug-ins

Safari > Preferences > Security

Internet Plug-ins > "Allow plug-ins"

Enable it.

If this doesn’t help, please run EtreCheck and post the report here

Download it, open Downloads folder, click on it to open and select”Open” in the dialog to run it.

Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste it when you reply.

I had the same problem, updating Flash in OS X 10.11.6 (El Capitan), and the solutions posted here didn't work, including the accepted solution from May 2016 pointing to "distribution3.html" at Adobe, which currently (Nov 2016) redirects to a new page providing only the web installer. After multiple searches, I learned that that page had a deprecation message on it for about a year before Adobe removed it and redirected.

Annoyingly, the place to go for a fix appears to be an ever-moving target—Adobe's way to help us all love Flash even more. As of early Nov 2016, the full download version is here:

Installation problems | Flash Player | Mac

Who knows where it will be next month. The self-contained installer there (18.9 MB) worked without problems for me. Find it in the "Still having problems?" section near the bottom of the page.
