Q: I have an iPhone 4s that will not take the latest os update.

My iPhone 4s will not update. I have hooked it to iTunes on two different macs. On my iMac I get an error code 29. On the Macbook Pro I get an error 1871. How do I wipe it completely clean and start over?

Iphone 4s is no longer suported so it might not update it anymore. I read an article that people who updated iphone 4s to ios9 experieced alot of crashing and operating bery slow. Iphone 4s really does not have enough resorces to run ios 9. I would recommend a new iphone. The oldet version still supported for ios9 is iphone 4s (But Apple wont do anything to help on discontinued devices. The oldest still supported is iphone 5s. I am using an iphone 5, but it seems a lot faster on ios

9 woth this phone than my old iphone 4s. But if i am getting a new phone, i would deffinitely get an iphone 6 or 6s.

iPhone 4S is definitely still supported by iOS.  If in fact you have an iPhone 4, however, the highest version of iOS it can use is iOS 7.1.2.  If it's an iPhone 4S, you can use iOS 9.3.2 (current version).

Anyway, this article explains the meanings of the error codes you encountered.
