Q: Contacts Notes Disappear

I have written moderately long notes on Contact cards and have those notes completely disappear when synced to iCloud I have also had old contacts totally disappear

iPhone 6s, iOS 9.3.2

Have you tried toggling Contacts on/off on your device?

Thanks. I think I have tried that. But anyway, isn't it possible to get all duplicates that way, I'm afraid to do this out of fear of duplicates, although, I think I did it about a year and 1/.2 ago.
I should mention amazingly, that I have almost 5,000 contacts because of my job!! I believe Apple told me that is not a problem.
