v10.6.8 can't run the latest version of iTunes that's required to sync an iPhone 6S.
Your Mac must be running v10.8.5 Mountain Lion or later. See System Requirements here > http://www.apple.com/iphone-6s/specs/
El Capitan v10.11.x requires approximately 8.8. GB's of storage space.
See if your Mac meets the requirements > Upgrade to OS X El Capitan
With El Capitan installed, you would be able to run iTunes 12.4.0 so you can sync your iPhone.
El Capitan is free and available for download from the App Store.
** Upgrading to 10.7 and above, don't forget Rosetta!
