Why doesn't Spotlight work on iPad Air after update?

When trying to use Spotlight with my iPad Air, it doesn't work most times. I rebooted and even tried toggling off Spotlight options and toggling them back on. Still doesn't work. It works fine with my iPhone 6s Plus. Would love feedback on how to fix this! The update to iOS 9.3.2 ruined Spotlight. Thanks!
