Q: Diagnosis for problem with 17" iMac G5 ALS?
Hello!
I have just bought a 17" iMac G5 (w/ ambient light sensor) from an individual on Craigslist. He told me that the power supply in the computer was broken, but since he included a brand new one with the computer when I bought it, I didn't worry much. Anyway, when I got the computer home and replaced the power supply while following iFixit's directions and reassembled the computer, it will not boot up or turn the screen, hard drive, fans, etc. or give any sign of life in the computer. ...so I open the case back up and see that the 1st diagnostic light is on, meaning there is power going into the power supply. I tried pushing the internal power button, but with the same result. So I decided to put the old power supply which the seller said was broken back into the computer. Now when I push the power button, the screen flashes very quickly in the right side and one of the fans starts up, and that's it. Does anyone have any suggestions to remedy this issue? Thanks.
