Why does the mail storage on my iPhone 6S keep increasing even though I always delete all mail from both my inbox and my rubbish mail boxes?

Mails are not deleted from the Trash and Junk Folder when you move them there. You have to change the settings that they are deleted immediately.

I guess you get new mails all the time, so these are increasing your storage.

If rubbish mailbox means the trash, so what about spam?

Good thought. I had not considered "Rubbish" to mean something else.

At one time the OS had a British version (back in OS 9 and before) and the Trash was called the Waste Basket.

We would empty the Waste Basket into a Rubbish bin (or dustbin) that would be collected from the roadside once a week in everyday life.

Hence my thoughts were that the Trash was being emptied.

I was not sure what he meant with the "Rubbish mailbox" (Trash or Junk).

But anyway if he is only emptying the Trash or Junk, in the other one there still can pile up messages that increase the storage.

Although I doubt he gets so many messages or so many attachments, that the storage increase is so obvious.

I would guess that once you start looking you only notice the increase no matter how much it might be.

Not helpful. I deleted many, many emails from inbox and sent folders, emptied the trash folder, and there was no change in the amount of storage the system said was being used by my mail. HELP!

How many have you deleted? How many are left?

Do the emails that are still in your inbox contain a lot of attachments?

After deleting all emails I even deleted the Mail-app, and still the memory of the Mail-app remains over 4 GB !! How can I delete this from memory ??? HELP

Do you have any other Mail program (like Gmail) installed?

I have Outlook since some weeks.

So maybe the mails in Outlook are using that space!?

I've now deleted Outlook, as I have also Facebook and 12 other apps ; and still the Apple Mail app takes 4,3GB and I have no space available !!?? HELP.

I've already deleted Outlook, I have deleted also Facebook and 12 other apps, so now there are no mail-apps installed in my iPhone 6Plus ; and still the Apple Mail app takes 4,3GB of memory !!??

How can I delete these 4,3 GB of Mail-memory ??

Just to inform, I managed at last !

By re-installing tha Mail-app I could delete the email-accounts that were attached; and thus delete the 4,3 GB files !
