iTunes 12.4 'ellipsis' contextual menu now hopeless

iTunes updated itself and took away crossfading for me (and a few others, I see), but on the whole I found the layout a little less chaotic than 12.3.3. One thing that is problematic though is the change of the 'elipsis' (…) contextual menu that is to the right of every song name. From that menu, one used to be able to add items to playlists and to be able to do it from a left click on the elipsis icon. You still can, but there's a caveat. I have a LOT of playlists filed in folders. If the folders were closed in the playlist sidebar, itunes would not list every item in the folder when picking a playlist to add to, now it does list every playlist even in closed folders necessitating a long scroll to find the right playlist and mirroring the behaviour of the Add to playlist item on the standard right click contextual menu.

Has anyone any ideas how to get around this and restore the previous behaviour?

I did used to do this, though less so when the playlist was in autohide under the "My Music" tab. It was just a dinky little menu with a few choice commands which helpfully didn't disclose the contents of a playlist folder unless you clicked on it, saving a long scroll past, in my case, the contents of a folder in which I had archived my DJ playlists for the last year. The point of archiving them that way was so that I wouldn't have to scroll past 150 items, so that's why I liked the behaviour of the menu...
