How do I disable shuffle? IOS 9.3.1 My phone stays in my pocket while I drive. I can not navigate down to the Song Playing screen to turn off shuffle. There should be a way for safety reasons alone. So frustrating.

Unfortunately the only way is navigating to the Music app itself and turning it off from the Album/Artist view or from the song itself by clicking on the double twisted arrows. However the shuffle should not turn on by itself. If you are having issues with this please provide more details...
It is turning on by itself. I set an album to play last night and hit pause. Turned shuffle off. This morning I put the phone in my pocket. Turned on the music by voice command through a 2010 Ford Sync system. Shuffle was on.
Try resetting the Music App. Close Music completely from the app switcher window by double clicking the Home button and swiping up the Music preview pane until it disappears from the screen. Then do a forced restart. Hold down the Home and Wake/Sleep buttons at the same time for about 15-20 seconds until the Apple logo appears.
At first, I was thinking this was the age old feature of "shake to shuffle". I've had that feature off for a long time now, and was just reminded through settings options that that is no longer a thing.
When this is happening, is it only relevant to connecting to your car and does it shuffle your entire music library or just the album/playlist? When my phone connects to my car, it tends to trip over to playing my entire library starting with A Lack of Color...overshare, but I hate hearing that song now because I know it means I will have to tell my Music app to stop it and play something I actually want to hear.
As a counter to this event, you could prompt Siri and say "turn shuffle off" when this happens. That way you wouldn't have to fumble through your phone while driving.
Thanks for the help. I did some testing over the weekend and it appears that my shuffle turns on when my vehicle radio connects to my phone via bluetooth.
I guess it's something I will just have to live with.

Yes! Then we are talking about the same thing. I agree that it can be annoying, but same as you, I am dealing with it for the time being.
