Native News App Crasing on iPad Pro 9.7" with iOS 9.3.1

The native News app will not stay open. It flashes open for about a second, then closes.


I have tried:


  1. Restarting the iPad.
  2. Two-button reset (Home + Wake/Sleep).
  3. Forced quit (double tapping Home + swiping up).
  4. Backup and Restore.


I would rather not reset my settings. I have customized my settings to a great extent and would hate to have to go in and duplicate those efforts.


What am I missing? Is there something more I can try? I refuse to install 9.3.2, so maybe see if the next update fixes this?

I fixed it.


I went into Settings > iCloud > News - Toggle off. Then"Deleted data from iPad."


I lost my customized news feed, but at least the problem is fixed.
