A brand new Mac should not overheat unless it's not well ventilated > Mac notebooks: Operating temperature
You have 14 calendar days to return an item from the date you received it.
Or take your Mac to an Apple Store.
You can make a reservation at a Genius Bar in advance.

May 18, 2016 10:48 AM in response to JESummersby OGELTHORPE,Install a temperature/fan speed monitoring application,
Open Activity Monitor to ALL PROCESSES and set CPU to display values from high to low.
When the MBP gets hot, post images of both for review.

May 18, 2016 10:59 AM in response to JESummersby OGELTHORPE,I thought that you were referring to the DC input board.
If you have an infrared thermometer, you can take a temperature reading which might offer a clue if it is hotter than 'normal'.
Look at the pins on the charger connector. They are spring loaded and should move freely. Also examine the MBP connection for any debris ot discoloration.
If available, test with another compatible Apple charger.
Your best option may be a genius bar visit as suggested by Carolyn Samit.
Ciao.
