No, the iPhone has no direct support to write out to regular USB drives.
There some special wifi drives that can be used with iPhones and have apps that allow it to write files out to them however.

The problem is not the interface, but the power demands of a USB drive. The phone cannot provide enough power to satisfy the USB specifications so USB attached devices are not supported. If you need to transfer files use iTunes on a computer.
The camera kit is an exception as the camera does not require any power from the iPhone.
