I Charge my ipod touch 3g but it says on screen it is fully charged

i have an old ipod touch 3g (its in good state) just recently fixed the charging port because of this problem, every time i put to charge my ipod it says on screen it is fully charged when the battery its at 20, even connected the ipod starts loosing the battery very quick. any idea of what could it be?
