Q: Could I mirror my iPad magazine onto TV or Mac Computer? Many thanks!

I have many magazines on my iPad (iPad Pro 9.87), some bought through iTunes, others through Zinio.

Not all can be read on a computer. If I could mirror the magazine (many with a small print) on a TV, it would help. Can it be done?

Many thanks,

Wexmall

If your TV has an HDMI port, you can easily get an adapter and you will see your iPad screen on your TV (you also need to set the input to the corresponding HDMI port).

If you are looking for a free option, you can use the quicktime pro app already on your mac to do exactly this.

How to use QuickTime Player - Apple Support

Follow that article to use Quicktime to mirror the screen of your iPad. The article lists this as a means to record, but you can just use it for mirroring purposes all the same. It works so well! It's also much easier to read the print than it is on a TV.

    Hi Babowa,

Lots of thanks for your response (and its promptness). I will try your approach...it looks like it will work.

Have large screen TV and reading my magazines from the current distance would be a great help.

    With best regards,

    W

    Bi BBoiss,

Many thanks for your helpful response (and for its promptness).

Hope to return the favor...may take some time to get proficiency with Mac.

Will try your suggested approach and let you know how it works.

    Have a very fine day,

So, exactly how are you displaying the iPad screen on your iMac?

Open up Quicktime...sorry I said Pro earlier. It's just the normal quicktime on your Mac. I have 10.4 version of Quicktime.

Then click File>New Movie Recording. That is going to start up your iSight Camera and in the bottom center of that window, when you scroll over it, you will see a red record button. Just to the right of that will be a downward pointing arrow. Click that, with your iOS device already connected and select the device as the source for Camera. Then you will be looking at a live view of your iOS screen and whatever is presently displayed on it.

    Hi all,

I got involved in something else....will work on mirroring shortly.

I can see that your responses will work and want to thank you profusely for your help. I don't have an adapter, will get one shortly.

I will contact you as soon as I get everything working.

Again, many thanks, and will remain obliged. I am rather new to Macs but seeing the quality of support has made me a convert.

    Hey,

No worries! You just happened to ask about one of my favorite hidden bonus features of the Mac+iOS partnership

I have an IOGear hdmi transmitter/receiver setup at home (we have similar system at work) that cost about $180.00 USD on Amazon. With that and appropriate adapters (lightening to hdmi, usb-c to hdmi, etc) I can display any laptop, tablet, smart phone scene onto my tv.  It works seamlessly with iPhones, iPads's, Macs, Windows 7/8/10 laptops,...
