Hey,
Assuming you are using If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support for this one, I have a few more tricks you can try...
Placing your phone into recovery mode does not necessarily require it to be plugged into a computer. You can follow the same steps while plugged into a wall outlet. Once you see the iTunes logo with the lightning cable on the screen of your iPhone, plug it back into your computer and choose the option to restore it. [I assume you were just trying to restore it, yes?]

Turn off your iOS device.
Connect the device charging cable to the computer only (not to the device yet).
Open iTunes on your computer.
Press and hold the power button on your device and don’t let go.
Connect the cable to the device while keeping the power button pressed down.
Wait until the computer detects the device and wait for it to restore.
Restore as New first and then restore from backup if desired.
