Q: Confused about cable to restore ATV4

Some recent MacBooks have only USB-C jacks. That note is for those models. Your iMac should have a regular USB jack, so you can use the cable that came with the unit.

The cable included is lightning to USB and is for charging the remote. A USB C to USB A cable would be needed for restoring. Or you could take the unit to Apple

Just for reference, here Restore your Apple TV through iTunes - Apple Support are the instructions. The download is large, so be patient.

I had the same issue a while back, any standard USB-C to USB-A type cable will work, hopefully you manage to get it working again soon.

But be sure the cable handles data and is not just for charging. It should say on the package.
