Setting up magic mouse

I have a new 'magic' mouse and although it works via Bluetooth to my mid-2011 27" iMac with OS X Yosemite I cannot customize it.

When I select Advanced in Mouse System Prefs the mouse is not recognized. Spinning icon only.

Any way I can customise this new mouse?
