Q: Fiddler trace for troubleshooting

Hi,

what would you recommend using for recording repro steps?

I was told to use Terminal.app at admin level with command

  • sudo tcpdump -s 0 -A -i en0 –w ~/Desktop/trace.dmp to start recording
  • repro steps
  • CTRL+C to stop recording

Is this the only way? At a user level is not very practical if they don't have admin permissions for the machine...

Thanks,

Volm

There seems to be an tcpdump: illegal token: –   in your command line

    Thanks...

What I meant is if there is a user friendlier step recorder (an app?) to run for remote troubleshooting purposes as opposed to have the user log in with admin permission and run a command in the Terminal that - as you prove - can be easily done wrong...

Sorry if I explained myself in a convoluted way...
