Q: MacBook Pro Retina mid 2014 (Mac OS 10.9.5) doesn't connect with Apple Cinema Display. Why not??
Connecting Apple Cinema Display with MacBook Pro Retina Mid 2014 (Mac OS 10.9.5) doesn't work.
The monitor isn’t detected by the machine.
I worked my way through this site without any success:
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201177#1
I tried two adapters, one by Delock and the other one is an Apple connector MiniDisplayPort->DVI-Adapter.
The Apple Cinema Display, that I have, usually works just fine together with my old computer MacBookPro (10.6.8).
1) I guess the problem is that there is an OS issue since Thunderbolt doesn't even detect the display at the first place, by checking it in System Report or About This Mac.
2) Also, something that appears strange to me, is that, in System Preferences=>Displays, there is no Arrangement window to open. The AirPlay Display selection is disabled while saying there is 'no device detected'.
3) There is no Display icon in the menu bar, even though "Show Mirroring Options in the menu bar is available" is checked in System Pref.
I finally checked if the ACD would work with a newer Macbook Pro (10.10.5) but I discovered the exact same issues.
Any advice or help in this regard?
