Photo fade in and out

Hello everyone!

I am doing a video with a recording from a presentation I did and I am overlaying the slides from my PPT presentation. When I put a picture of one of the slides and I want it to fade out and show the video, when I do it it also fades in the beginning of the picture. Is there a way around this?

Here is a picture showing this. There is fade out and fade in, but I only want fade out. When I move one it affect both.

Hopefully someone has a response!

Thank you in advance and have a nice weekend.

With best wishes,

I think I am not following you there. My process was:

  1. Put a video on iMovie
  2. Go to my PPT presentation and save all slide as PNG (there is an option for that)
  3. Import the PNG (of each slide) to iMovie
  4. Put each picture where I want in the movie

The problem comes with the first "slide" I wanted the video to start with the first slide and with the voice of the presentation and then fade and connect with the video again. The problem of not putting fade is that changing from a slide to a video is not very nice visually speaking.

But do not worry! It is only a minor issue so nothing to worry about.

Trimming the lead-in would just moves the lead-in to the non-trimmed part 😀

You might try updating your operating system to El Capitan, as iMovie 10.1.1 is designed for that system.

It might not work properly with Yosemite.

How were you able to get the fade lines at both ends of your still clip? I am not able to duplicate that with

iMovie 10.1.2 (latest version). I have fade handles for background audio clips but not for photo stills.

Thanks for the recommendation.

Actually it is not a clip it is just a PNG (photo). It was set by default that it faded both sides at the same time. It is supposed to allow you in any case! Anyways, I did not change anything, it was how the default settings were established. It is the second time I use iMovie so I have little to offer, sorry!
