Q: Podcast works, but not reflecting in search by subject results

Hello there,

I have a podcast that has been up since October of last year (approximately 8 months now). Everything regarding the podcast is active and working, I can find it when I search the title name "specifically" and the episodes are refreshing well enough.

However, the main focus is "photography" (street photography in particular), but I cannot find it in the search results when searching "photography". The title is reflecting "photography", as to are the iD3 tags, Feed keywords, episode titles, descriptions, "genre/topic", etc...

I've seen other podcasts, some not related to photography, others with only a couple episodes that haven't updated in a long while, showing in the results.

I receive a relatively high download rate of a few hundred per episode. I wasn't sure if there is something specific that I may be missing, or something that may be wrong with the feed that omits it from the "term/subject" specific search results. So I thought I would pose the question here for any assistance that can be offered.

Many Thanks

iTunes does not make use of keywords - there used to be an 'itunes:keywords' tag to be used in feed but Apple have withdrawn its use so even if you have it it will be ignored. Search works with titles and author, and that appears to be it.

I do recall reading something about this. Quite unfortunate, as it seems to be more of a "luck of the draw" to be listed in the search queries now.

Oh well... Many thanks for your help.

The iTunes Store search engine takes results from your overall show title, your author tag, and individual episode titles. That's it. If the search terms you're using don't appear in any of these places in your podcast listing, the search engine won't find your podcast.
