How to start/stop video recording on iPhone using Apple Watch Camera app

How do you start and stop a video recording on your iPhone remotely using the Apple Watch's camera app? I have no problem taking still shot pictures but I don't see an option for video.

Apple Watch, iOS 9.3.2

I have found the way to just using your iwatch to record videos publicly, or secretly record videos. Here is a How to Step by Step Guide

In order to have iwatch left on recording mode to continue recording daily instead of Photo shoots on Camera mode you must first do this.

1. Start recording video with your iPhone,

2. Open up the video still being recorded on your iPhone on Your Apple iWatch

3. then Stop the recording on your IWatch.

4. Close up the Camera app windows on your cell phone.

5. Finally you can now Start opening, and Closing the Camera App on your iWatch to just record videos at anytime on the iWatch.

6. Whenever you just want to take Photos again, Open Camera app on iWatch, and just switch video mode to Photo mode using your iPhone.

7. When you want to leave Camera mode on Video recording again, switch on iPhone to video recording, Close up the Camera app on your Windows screen, and you can Open it again ready to Secretly record on your iWatch

When you launch the Camera app on your phone, you will have to go change it to video on the phone and start the video from your phone. If you attempt to start or stop the video on your watch it will only take a still shot. But you can see in the display of your watch what you were taking the video of. I'm not sure how this will be useful as the watch should be used as a remote.

Thanks for the answer. The use to be able to see what your recording is useful if you want to take a vlog style video of yourself, but don't want to use the front facing camera since it is a worse camera. It's useful if not crucial to see what the camera sees to ensure you're framed correctly. I'm sure the front facing camera takes fine videos and photos, but the perfectionist in me would prefer to use the best camera available, especially given I have the iPhone 7 plus with it's dual cameras. It's a shame it can't actually be used as a fully featured remote, giving you full range of control of all the options in the camera app on the iPhone. Would love to see this feature added.

Correction to what I wrote on Number 7 the last step.

Do Not Close up the Camera App on your iwatch, or you will not be able to continue Recording over, and over again with your iwatch.

And One more Note to tell you. Make sure your volume to listening to music, or videos is lowered all the way down Or put It on mute. If not People can hear you clicking on the Camera to record.

Here’s what I have tried that worked. I have the iPhone 6 with iOS 11.1 and the Apple Watch with 4.1. It’s not the latest generation watch. I’ve had it two years. What I did first was to go into the camera settings in the Settings app and set it to remember my last mode. Then I opened up the camera app and set it to video mode. Then whenever I went to the camera app on my watch, it would allow me to photo/video in whatever mode I was last in on the phone. Now I do know that the errors that many of you reported about the camera not being supported are valid. I used to get that message too, but that was about a year ago when I last tried. I don’t know which watch or phone update brought that feature, but that’s the best solution I could find.
