Can't change "Recently Added" under Library to list view.

Exactly. And WHY would they lock me to Grid View? I do NOT understand changes like this which FORCE a choice on me, and for no apparent reason. I should not need to make a playlist to have that option.

Hope this helps. Select 'Recently Added' playlist on your sidebar, now on the menu bar go to 'View' and select 'View As' --> 'Songs'. Your playlist should now be displayed as a list of items. You can always switch between different views for each of your playlists.

The Recently Added view under Library in the sidebar seems to be locked in the view that shows a grid of album art tiles.

However, you still have your Recently Added smart playlist (if you had one before), under the Playlists heading. The Recently Added smart playlist can be set to any desired view, like any other playlist.

I don't like it either asked about whether or not I could change it the day after the update came out. It can't be changed. Instead, create a Smart Playlist called "Most Recently Added," set it to whatever number you want, make sure you have it set to live updating, and just use that playlist to keep track of what you've recently put in your Library.

Thank you pinkstones. Finally an answer that confirms that the the view for the new Recently Added playlist sitting top left (on Windows versions at least) CANNOT be changed! So kill it and add your own Smart Playlist to 'fix' the issue.

I had this same issue and I hate Album view ! Just right (2 finger on mac ) click and select remove from side bar, then click Songs under the Library Tab and sort Columns by date added. If date added is not an option right click in the names tab and select it from the sorting choices. enjoy! xo Z

You were correct. You can go to menu > view options > select songs in both mac and Windows versions.

Many thanks ozma. I'm really enjoying all the view flexibility of 'my own' Recently Added Smart Playlist after the frustration of trying to work with the version that Apple recently foisted upon me!
