Braheem-

Q: Mac runs slow / beachball

Hello community,

I bought a Mac in August 2016 and experienced it since the beginning as very slow, especially for a new device (before this, I was a pc user, and when I bought a new pc in the past, I always had the feeling for quite a while that it was superfast, a feeling I never experienced with this Mac).

First I thought that this was due to the installation of Windows on it (using bootcamp), that I installed because I really need to use Microsoft Office and didn't like the limitations (and the slowness) of Office on my Mac.

So, in order to resolve my slowness I got rid of the Windows-partition (a while ago already).

Now however, I still have the following problems:

  • my Mac seems to run very slow in general
    • needs lots of time (beachball) when opening apps, like Outlook, Chrome or Safari,
    • my in app images sometimes even "lag" when i scroll through them, even though I only have a few apps and screens open,
    • after startup, it really takes a long time before anything happens when I try to open apps or before I can do anything,
    • when I click my "right mouse button", I often have to wait a few seconds before anything happens (beachball)
  • my Office-applications often crash (I also have these apps installed on a lighter and 1 year older Macbook Air, where I do not experience this kind of problems)

Can someone help me to try to resolve this or to find out if these problems are hardware-related?

Below you can find my Etrecheck-report.

Thx a lot in advance!

Braheem-
