English Support in Czech Republic

Hi,

Does anyone know how I can get support, in English in Czech Republic.

My problem, I ordered an iMac online yesterday, the delivery was 2-4 days. I received an email saying that delivery would be in 10 days. So I went online to cancel the order and the system won't let me. I sent an email to their supplied email address and it was undelivered. I telephoned and someone was talking for what seemed to be forever and I could not get through, because of language difficulties.

I am now in the situation tha I can't cancel the order and because I have a sterling credit card I have no idea what the exchange rate will be when they get round to delivering the item, it could be more expensive or cheaper.

Basically the system here is dreadful, I went to one of the shops and they won't help, I emailed them with no luck and I can't get through by phone.

I know this is not the correct forum but I hope people appreciate that I have a problem with this so I;m writing on the off chance that someone may have an answer. Can anyone help please, because I don't want to have to write to the President of Apple.

Thank

Alan

Hi, thanks for replying, I ordered it through the Apple online store. I'm miffed because I ordered it online in Prague and thought it would be quicker, but ultimately it will end up in England when I return there. I think it would have been quicker, more reliable to have it delivered to my London address and have it shipped over on one day delivery. Even paying for that it would be a couple of hundred pounds cheaper. So not only am I getting bad service, I'm also paying about 400 more for an identical machine. I will never order here again without checking exactly whether it's cheaper to shop elsewhere.

But I doubt I can do much now, I also have someone waiting for my old machine so it's not just me who is inconvenienced.

I think Apple should look into their policy here because Czechs earn a lot less (about 1/3 of average UK wages) than people in say the UK, Germany and so on but seem to be paying a 20% premium. I don't hold much hope for Apple penetrating the domestic market in any significant way.

I doubt very much whether I can do anything about this but I do hope expats take note and consider the options of buying from their own country and work out whether the cost plus shipping is more advantageous.

Just to update this.

I don't know whether Apple read this thread but my iMac arrived today. So if they did and expedited the delivery then thanks for listening. If not then you got it right in the end because I got what I wanted and roughly at the price I anticipated, adjusted for a small exchange rate difference.

However, I still think Apple should look at their pricing policy in CZ. The prices relative to income are about 4-5 times more expensive and then there is a 20% price hike, which is not so bad for me because I earn Brit money but it's extremely expensive for the average Czech person.

Anyway, for me it was OK in the end.
