After Uninstalling QuickTime... You can still install the mov codecs required by Windows for importing mov files into Editing Programs

If you haven't uninstalled QuickTime from you Windows computer as the United States Government has warned us to do. You should do it now.

The problem with uninstalling QuickTime from Windows is that a large number of mov videos will no longer import into video editing programs without conversion. QuickTime movies created with the animation codec that also have a transparent background are even more problematic.

There is a way to install just the codecs using the QuickTime Installer without putting your computer at any risk. This You-Tube video is very informative covering the problems Apple created when they ended support for QuickTime on Windows. https://youtu.be/Fjn11dC_8kk

At 3:13 in the video the proper technique for installing the codecs is covered.

However, the entire video is informative and worth watching in my opinion.

I couldn't load any of the animations I created with transparent a background and rendered using the animation codec until I reinstalled the codecs.I spent many hours creating those animations and losing them "Although only temporally" was very disruptive to my workflow and cost me some valuable hours resolving the problem. There were many other mov files that would not import either. I'm happy to report that the issue is behind me now.

I hope this helps some of you out.
