Q: Can't print to network printers after 10.11.5 update

Since updating to OS X 10.11.5, I am unable to print to any network printers.

This problem did not exist in OS X 10.11.4 and earlier.

I have tried deleting and re-adding each printer.  The printers are created successfully, but when sending a job to the printer, it changes to "Paused" status and will not print.

I also reset the printing system, but this did not solve the problem.

Any help would be appreciated!

I have the same problem on iMac and MacBook Air after updating to 10.11.5. Will be interesting what's the reason for that ...

Maybe in my case it demands on an old driver by OKI for my MC160n. Found out, that OKI provides last driver for 10.8 ... in an official document mentioned that driver for 10.9, 10.10 and 10.11 are in status "In review". Opened a support ticket to get more information about that.

The reason is you updated your OS to a version not supported by your printer manufacturer. Before updating to a new OS it is advisable to check that all your third party apps, hardware drivers, etc. also can the new OS.

Sure ... but printer works fine due running on 10.9, 10.10 and 10.11 until update to 10.11.5. More or less the same like Johns problem ... printer status is ready, sending a printing job works to until maybe 75% transmission and then - printer status switching to "searching printer". After deleting the job status is ready again.

Sounds like it may be a network or connection issue rather than a print driver issue. Start your own thread and provide computer and printer details.

Later ... want to wait for OKI support answer. But it isn't any network problem ... the printer is online and available for printer status webpage. Anyway ... there is no printing problem with Windows 7. After answer I will create own thread if problem isn't solved.

Got an update from OKI Support ... they recommend to use new 10.11 printer driver by Konika-Minolta in fact that MC160n printer and MagicColor 1690MF are the same. But at all ... that didn't work - same result like before.

So that have to be an update issue or modification by apple in lastet update.

Printing on network printer with old OKI driver 1.2.1 until 10.11.4 worked without any problems ... on 10.11.5 nothing works with 1.2.1 and new 1.5.0 (release 16/04/06) driver. Printing on Windows is no problem at all ...

This is something that has changed on Apple's end.  The problem affects network printers of any brand on my Mac.

I have the same problem. After updating to 10.11.5 I can no longer access shared folders/printers on network Windows PCs

I'm fairly certain it's something is 10.11.5, and not related to the printer driver. It's affecting all brands and varieties of printers.

The problem has not been fixed in the 10.11.6 beta.

I have a 10.11.4 installer.  Is there a way to revert to 10.11.4 without a Time Machine backup?

unless you wipe the drive and you currently have a 10.11.4 installer on you archived or on a flash drive then no, there is not. Apple no longer keeps it available.

Also any beta findings go to the developers forums not here, we can't discus it as per the EULA, it's a violation of these forums.

I was able to reconnect to my Windows-shared printers by following these steps:

Hello, i have same problem with you. i found the way to fix this problem. it is easy!

    1. Rename the computer which is sharing the printer, then restart this PC

    2. Add the printer on your MAC as normal (to the new computer name)

    3. Enjoy!
