My Daughter had her iPhone stolen. Can`t find it through find my iPhone

My Daughter`s iPhone was lost/stolen. We think whom ever took it changed the sim card. I still have the bill of sale & serial #.Is there anyway of tracking this device? Please advise.

If Find my iPhone was enabled in Settings/iCloud BEFORE it was stolen, log in to https://icloud.com/find. You should see an entry for the phone. Put it in Lost mode. It doesn't matter whether the SIM card was changed, you should still be able to track it when it connects to either cellular data or WiFi. If you don't remove it from your (or her) iCloud account the thief will never be able to use it.

If Find my iPhone was NOT enabled, it's gone for good.
