Q: My Apple Watch Wont Pair

I bought an apple watch from offer up. It paired to my phone but prompted for an update, thought I was good so I paid the woman and left. Update never happened, took it to apple, they told me it's activation locked and the person I bought it from would have to unpair it from their phone before I could finish installing the update. How could I fix this without her?

Apple Watch, watchOS 2.2.1

    Hi

    It is not possible for you to remove the lock yourself.

    Activation Lock is designed to prevent unauthorised use of Apple Watch if it is lost or stolen.

    To be able to pair the watch to your own iPhone, you will instead need the previous owner (which may not necessarily be the seller) to either:

    • Enter their Apple ID and password on your device, or;
    • Turn the feature off via https://www.icloud.com/ by signing in with their Apple ID > Settings > My Devices > Click on Apple Watch > Click on the "X" > click on Remove.

    You will not otherwise be able to use the watch (there is no way around this security feature).
