Q: Multi-Port USB Adapter for MacBook's USB-C Port?

Hello

I am in pain trying to find a multi-port USB adapter for my MacBook 2016 that has only one USB-C port which also acts as a power port.

What I've already done is connect an external WD My Passport HDD to the MacBook via a HooToo adapter, only to see no HDD being mounted in OS X.

OS X plays a sound when it's connected, but apparently the adapter provides insufficient power for the HDD to be loaded.

I have found Belkin multi-port USB adapters here:

http://www.apple.com/us/search/USB-ports?sel=accessories&src=serp

But it's not certain if any of them provides enough power, so I'd rather try one which someone has successfully used with a MacBook and an external HDD,

or else go for a Apple branded multi-port USB adapter.

Please let me know about your experience or an Apple adapter.

Thank you in advance

MacBook, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)

My Apple 3 port works as advertised. The USB port has had perfect compatibility with old and USB 3 drives, my Apple USB Ethernet adapter, and the Trendnet serial to USB adapter I use. This includes perfect function with a Windows 10 VM via VMware Fusion.

A non-Apple C to A adapter I bought works fine too. I don't see the brand on it but chose it via Amazon ratings. There were some with more high ratings so that's how I made the choice.
