I want to transfer a Dish recording or live feed to the computer for viewing while camping.

I know it's been asked may times but I can't find an answer after searching.

I've got 'Dish' satellite service. We've started to do a lot of extended camping and I wanted to transfer or live record the video signal to our MacBook Air for viewing when we have no connection. I've also had the idea of just recording a few hours of a live feed to the computer so I have a full nights lineup for viewing when the weather is crappy or the kids get bored staring at the fire and telling ghost stories after dark. At present the feed is HDMI to the TV but I'm not against using analogue.

I've done a lot of research but am completely confused. From what I've discovered, the best unit out there,,, by Hauppauge only works with Windows and you need an additonal $100.00 (EyeTV-3) of software to make it work with a Mac. That's a total of almost $250.00 to get it on the MacBook Air.

Other than this board I was thinking of going to an Apple store and talking to one of their representitives for advice.

Any help appreciated,,,, even directing me to an answer on this site (that I can't find)
