Q: Cannot pair ipod touch with JBL SB350 soundbar

Is there a compatibility issue getting a ipod Touch to pair with a JBL Cinema SB350 (soundbar) or am I just not understanding how to connect it?  The iTouch constantly searches for bluetooth devices, but is not detecting the soundbar.  I believe I reset the soundbar (unplugged and waited 30 seconds as JBL suggested to get iphone to connect).  Ready to return the darn soundbar...bluetooth is glitchy with subpar documentation.

    The description

    http://www.jbl.com/soundbars/JBL+CINEMA+SB350.html

Says the SB allows you to stream audio to any BT enabled device.

That means to a BT receiver. An iPod or other iOS devices is really a BT sender like the SB is. iOS devices are not receivers except for very limited case when using a BT headset since they come with a mic.

I figure the SB must be the sender for the sub-woofer via Bluetooth, but it also streams from the iPhone (iOS device) just fine.  Your description makes it sound like the iOS should be receiving sound from the SB and outputting the sound through its headset (so I'm sure I'm misunderstanding)..but music streams through the iPhone and out the SB...so wouldn't the SB be acting as a receiver (I'm don't have technical knowledge to support my argument) ... the JBL user guide says "...you can stream audio via Bluetooth from the device to the JBL CINEMA SB350."  wouldn't that imply the SB is a receiver?  How does "Bluetooth enable device" = "BT receiver"?

The iTouch pairs with cheap little speakers easy peasy... is there some complexity introduced with sending to a sub-woofer that limits the JBL SB350 usefulness?

OK, so you want to audio from the iPod to the SB. Yes, the SB manual says yo can do that

Was the SB previously paired to another device?

Are you doing what the manual

    http://demandware.edgesuite.net/aauj_prd/on/demandware.static/-/Sites-masterCata log_Harman/default/dwce5612e1/pdfs/SB350…

    says:

    1. Confirm that the JBL Cinema SB350 is in the Bluetooth pairing mode (the Bluetooth button LeD will be flashing blue). if the LeD is not flashing blue, press and hold the Bluetooth button until its LeD starts flashing blue. 2. Place your Bluetooth-streaming device in pairing mode. 3. Use your device’s Bluetooth-pairing menu to pair it with the JBL Cinema

When you try to pair does the light light? Does the iPod see the SB?

    Also try:

    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

    - Reset the SB

.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

    - Restore from backup. See:

    iOS: How to back up

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
