Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for Mac will detect MacKeeper as PUP (Potentially Unwanted Software) and will remove the app and all of its components.
Are you ******* kidding me?
Hey Guys!
Step 1: Open Terminal (you can open it by using Spotlight which you can find by using Command + Space-Bar)
/*
For those of you who aren't familiar with terminal, use "cd" to change directory, "cd .." to go back one directory, "rm -r" to remove a directory and "ls" (not "I" as in "I am" but "l" as in "live") to list all directories available. There are many, many more commands out there but those are the ones we will need to get rid of MacKeeper. Again I recommend learning about Terminal, it's fascinating what it can do.
*/
Step 2: Type 'ls' into the terminal to list all of the directory available. You will also see something called "MacKeeper Backups." Don't mind it for now.
Step 3: Type "cd Applications". This will take you into the application folder.
Step 4: Type "ls." At this point, you should see, "MacKeeper.app" and "Utilities".
Step 5: Type "rm -r MacKeeper.app" which should take no more than 15 seconds to remove MacKeeper. Once it's done it should open your browser to a website titled "sad to see you go. Link: MacKeeper Uninstall Survey".
Step 6: Tap yourself on the back because you're awesome and MacKeeper is no longer on your machine.
If this doesn't work, please leave a comment. Also, step 6 is very important 🙂
I got attacked by the Mac Scanner software, it had another name but I cannot remember it now. I tried stopping it but to no avail, then I managed to get a Force kill which seemed to get rid of it. This is the third time it has come back in as many days. Here is my screen shot, i hope you can help me to get rid of it.
Thanks Frank
