I am having a problem logging into facebook with safari 9.1

I am running OS 10.11.14 with Safari 9.1. When I try to login to facebook I get the message that I need to login repeatedly. When I try to login, I then am either able to see that I am indeed logged into FB for a brief time, before getting the login again, or I am redirected to another page telling me that my request cannot be processed. I have tried resetting Safari (repeatedly), disabling extensions, disabling, then re-enabling cookies. I can get it to work from the mobile site through Safari on the computer, but can't get the desktop site to work. Any thoughts? I am getting a bit frustrated. The problem arose a couple of days ago.

Hi,

First update your Mac to OS X v10.11.5. Open the App Store then select Updates from the menu.

After that update is installed, go to Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab then click: Remove All Website Data

Then see if you can login to Facebook.

If not, you may have a third party plug-in installed that's causing a conflict. It’s easy to troubleshoot. Plug-ins are not the same as extensions.
