Health app wrongly recording my bike riding as no. of steps taken

Today I accidentally opened the Health app & discovered that it was recording my motion data. In that there were two sets of data which were appearing on Dashboard: No. of steps taken & Walking+running distance. It was a matter of coincidence that I just came home after riding my bike for 6-7 kms in the city where I live. The city is congested & my avg speed would be 20 kmph. The health app is recording my bike riding as no. of steps taken. Where is the app wrong?

I have the same problem. When I ride my bike the health app records my cycling as steps, and then that data is transferred to MyFitnessPal app as steps, which is duplicate of the cycling that is transferred from my Garmin Connect app. Very annoying. I don't want to disconnect the Health app, but it should record steps only, not the motion of my feet pedaling the bike

I apologize for misunderstanding the situation.

To begin troubleshooting the Health app on your iPhone, there are two different steps I suggest.

First, close the Health app completely using the instructions located in the following article.

Force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Once Health is closed, restart your iPhone.

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Test the behavior of the Health app moving forward and pleas let us know if the issue continues.

Have a great day!

Hi Chaitanya2106,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities!

I understand that when you ride your bicycle, your Apple Watch isn’t measuring your ride correctly.

To troubleshoot this situation, I would make sure that you are selecting Outdoor Cycle when starting a workout. You may also need to calibrate the accelerometer in your Apple Watch.

For GPS accuracy when you walk, run, or cycle outdoors, select the appropriate Workout and bring your iPhone.* For indoor and outdoor walking and running, this will also help calibrate the accelerometer in Apple Watch for times when you don’t have GPS.

Use the Workout app on your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Cheers!
