Hi I have been wondering how to do backups for a long time and sometimes the Apple Watch does not work for me and gets me frustrated and sometimes it just does not work I was wondering if anyone in the community could help me with this answer

On your iPhone tap Watch app icon then tap General > Software Update
Latest version available is 2.2.1.
Actually the same goes for you iPhone.
Tap Settings > General > Software Update
Latest iPhone version available is 9.3.2.
