May 23, 2016 12:12 AM in response to muzammilalippby K Shaffer,If you can access iTunes, you may be able to download a more recent upgrade iOS 5.1.1
From what I've found the iPad you have is still supported -- but not to the latest versions...
Connect it to your Mac or PC with USB cable, and use iTunes:
• Update the iOS software on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
• Get help with over-the-air iOS updates - Apple Support
• If you need more space for an iOS update - Apple Support
To update your device, connect it to iTunes over USB and click Update. This ability should
exist if you have internet & use a computer to get upgrades & updates from Apple server.
With the Wi-Fi early version this may require some extra effort or a original cable, etc.
• iPad (Wi-Fi) A1219 general specs - per http://mactracker.ca app - including identifiers:
Original OS iOS 3.2 (7B367)
Maximum OS iOS 5.1.1
iTunes Version iTunes 9.1 or later
Introduced January 2010
Discontinued March 2011
Model Identifier iPad1,1
Model Number A1219
EMC 2311
Order Number MB292LL/A (16 GB) MB293LL/A (32 GB) MB294LL/A (64 GB)
If you have an Apple ID and use the App Store, depending on the ownership status
of the device, you should be able to upgrade the unit to a newer iOS. If a previous
owner had used the device, there may be issues if it wasn't prepared for new owner.
If another person owned the iPad before you, they may or may not have prepared it
for another user, as your model is fairly old, some of the recent information may have
to be considered against the age of the model you have. Here is standard information:
• What to do before selling or giving away your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
With iOS later than the versions capable of running in your iPad1.1, you would have to
pay attention to details and hope that things work out OK, as far as upgrade to iOS 5.1.1
and using the unit online with Your Apple ID. A previous ownership status could stop you.
In any event...
Good luck in this matter!
