Itunes keeps asking me to restore or set a new device and won't enter my Iphone

I have a new Iphone 6s. I updated Itunes and restored my settings from my previous Iphone5. Now, whenever I connect my device to Itunes, and click on the Iphone icon, it asks me to set a new Iphone or restore from backup, and won't 'recognize' it. I want to backup my new phone, and sync it with my music library (on my computer), but I can't accsses the Iphone from Itunes, whenever I try to do that it only opens the restore from back up/ set a new Iphone window.

Any suggestions?

iPhone 6s, iOS 9.3.2

Click the set up as new device button. This is somewhat counter intuitive but in this instance you're telling iTunes that you don't want to restore the device (since you've already done that) and you want iTunes to accept the device as one that syncs to your library. The existing content on the device will be left where it is and iTunes will make a new backup for it.
