Q: Smart keyboard ipad pro lost connection

Hi

 

Why my smart keyboard sometimes lost connection with ipad pro 9.7". Then after restart the ipad it works again. But its always like that. Is there any problem or how to fix it?

    Hi Budi73,

     

    Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! I'm sorry to hear that you are having these issues with your iPad Pro and your Smart Keyboard. Since the Smart Keyboard uses the Smart Connector contacts on the side of your iPad Pro, if you are having issues with intermittent or lost connections, you may want to check the contacts as outlined in the following article:

     

    Get help

    If your iPad Pro doesn't detect your Smart Keyboard or you see an "Accessory not supported" alert on your iPad Pro, make sure there's no debris or plastic covering on the Smart Connector pins on the keyboard or the Smart Connector on the iPad Pro. Also, try these steps:

    1. Make sure that your iPad Pro and Smart Keyboard are in the Type position.
    2. Remove the Smart Keyboard from your iPad Pro.
    3. Restart your iPad Pro.
    4. Reconnect the Smart Keyboard.

    HI thanks for the reply

     

    i already follow as your instruction. i will show the picture below. The only things that worked is when i restart my ipad pro. But its very common like this and very annoying to always restart my ipad pro when i need to use the keyboard. Is there any quick method for reconnecting?

    edit: oh one more things that in setting ipad pro at "General" > there is no showing "Hardware Keyboard" when i am in the 'type' position. Even i try to plug my keyboard then attach it again its still didnt show. It will show each time i restart my ipad pro but after a while its gone again (like in hours when ipad pro in sleep mode)

    I use with my iPad Pro 9.7 " exactly the same problem with the Smart Keyboard . If I iPad Pro 9.7 " have a while in standby loses the iPad Pro to connect to the Smart Keyboard , and can no longer be the Keyboard until the iPad reboots . After restarting everything works again smoothly . When the keyboard is not in use but then again about 1 hour , it does not go back . The problem also emerges only when the iPad Pro is the Keyboard Dock .

    I have also made an attempt . When the iPad Pro 9.7 " , the keyboard does not recognize then I wanted to know if it but then the great keyboard from iPad Pro 12.9 " recognizes . This is no longer even recognized . Only after restarting it goes .

    It is installed 9.3.2 iOS . Please Apple fixes the problem !

    I tried again to isolate the problem and behold I found the solution .

    It is up to Touch ID . Once Touch ID is turned on for iTunes purchases or to unlock the iPad then passes these errors that the keyboard is not recognized after a while .

    So Apple fixes the problem with Touch ID .

    Oh nice, thanks i will try to turn off touch id and see its work or not ... Is there any website that we can reference to apple to report this issue if thats happen

    Today there was again disconnects the keyboard when the battery is below 30% was . As long as I have recharged there were disconnections . After a reboot , I could fix it again . Now after charging the battery is all right again.

    Under Diagnosis Notice I have many MAUpdate messages . Hope Apple solves the problems yet .

    MIne still not work. Each time ipad goes to sleep for about hours then wont work until ipad restarted. But its really helpfull your information, i would try again

    i Have similar issue with the Smart Keyboard 9.7, or maybe even worse. It started when my Smart Keyboard suddenly become  unresponsive to my iPad Pro. I tried to restore my iPad Pro to factory setting and it only allows me to use my smart keyboard for few minutes before it suddenly become unresponsive again. Rebooting the iPad only helps temporaily as the keyboard become unresponsives again after a few minutes.

     

    I tried to bring it to an apple store to get it check it out, but it isn't helpful. What the apple guy did is just restarting my iPad and try it out on the spot and it works. Only when I bring it back home, it stopped working Again. The constant failing of the Smart Keyboard and the need to reboot my iPad countless time make it frustrating and it is the worse experience I had with an apple product.

     

    to those who is thinking of buying a Smart Keyboard or buying iPad Pro because of the smart keyboard, my advice to you is to DONT BUY IT. Believe me you will regret it.

    Already report it at the link given, but still got no reply until now

     

    Seems the smart keyboard for ipad pro 9.7" not recommended to buy since the issue still exist and not solve

    Since I have iOS 9.3.3 Beta 2 installed are no Smart Keyboard problems after standby occurred more . Use the version for almost 48 hours . I'm glad that Apple has fixed the problem.

    HI Cobra

     

    do you encounter your Smart Keyboard failing often prior 9.3.3? I m still facing same problem when I iPad 9.3.2 is on sleep mode for long. Still frustrating... I hope apple launch the 9.3.3 soon

    Since 3 days I have no more problems with the Smart Keyboard under 9.3.3 Beta 2.
