Q: Mac Pro 1.1 2006 fails installation of osx after kernel panic
Hi all,
some days ago i experienced repeated kernel panics at boot with my mac pro xeon quad core 1.1 (2006).
It wasn't impossible to access the system (kernel panic at boot screen), impossible to access safe mode (stuck at apple logo blocked charging symbol), so i decided to do a clean installation of the system (Lion).
The installation is anyway impossible since, when i plug the usb pen with lion, it anyway stucks at the apple logo screen and freezes the charging (the same problem happens also if i burn lion image downloaded from the apple store on a dvd).
I tried both the dvd and usb pen on another computer and the installation starts without failing.
Then i tried to reset the SMC, reset the PRAM, but it's always the same.
Then i tried to do an apple hardware test (complete extended mode) and after 55 minutes of test it says NO ISSUES FOUND.
What can i try to do?
Thanks very much.

I found the solution and this is crazy and senseless, but it is the solution.
1 - Format the hard drive with guid partition system (this is normal) before starting booting from the usb drive installer;
2 - Shutdown
3 - Insert the usb drive with lion
4 - Press the Turn on button and keep it pressed until you hear a long bip
5 - enjoy
