Photos for MacTry resetting the PRAM per Intel iMac SMC and PRAM resets. If this does not help, please follow the instructions in If your Mac won't turn on - Apple Support

May 23, 2016 7:26 AM in response to rkaufmann87by sarahfromnew malden,May be you could say that in English for me! Sorry, not a techno person.
We have done the unplugging of the cord (that's the SMC isn't it), waiting and then plugging back in but we still get the black screen with the apple logo and the bar showing only half way thorough.
No idea how to reset the PRAM as we cant see anything on screen to click.

Please spend some time reading the instructions in the second link I provided about What to Do If Your Mac Won't Turn On. Go through each step, if each fails the last step says to take it into your local Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider for service. Depending on the age of the computer, you may have better luck taking it to an AASP. You can find one in your area by clicking https://locate.apple.com/country
