Printer driver for Sharp MX-2314 printer

I tried downloading from different Sharp website but was never able to download a printer driver that I can work with the company's Sharp MX-2314 printer. Please advise where I can find a good driver that support this printer.

MacBook Pro (17-inch Mid 2009), OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

That Printer cannot be installed using automatic.

First, you need to have its IP address in hand, because it must be entered manually during the setup process. The you use the [+] to start the add-a-printer process. Even if the Printer's name appears in the automatic box, do not create it there. Instead, from the three Icons at the top of that panel choose "IP".

Immediately choose "Internet Printing Protocol for the Protocol box "HP JetDirect - socket" is the default.

Now enter the IP Address of the Printer in the Address box.

Give the Queue a meaningful mnemonic name, as that is what you will see when you go to Print.

The "Name" field in the bottom of the panel will self-populate with the IP address. You can change that to the Queue name if you prefer.

The box labeled "Location" is a text description of where in your building the printer can be found, such as "outside the President's office".

The "use" box is the driver. It will likely select "generic Postscript" for you. You can try that, you can choose "Auto-select", or you can choose your specific Driver.

If it really is a Driver problem, selecting "generic postscript" should give you access to all normal printing features, (but maybe not two-sided).

It is possible that the default Preset in the Driver that works is set to 0 percent color brightness or some other wonky setting, and that it COULD print color if it were adjusted.

This site has the driver, which is simply a PPD file for Mac OS X.

The Printer itself is a very smart Postscript Printer with LPR and IPP capabilities.

Thanks for the link but I have tried to download driver from USA, Hong Kong, and many other sites but after installing the driver, it looks like the Mac is spooling data to the printer, but it never comes out from the printer. I have tried so many times and came back with same result. One technical guy got another driver seemed to have wording Epson on it, but it works for black and white printing and not colour. How in the world that Sharp can sell printers but not supporting Mac?

You complained that you could not find the Driver. You appear to have the Driver, and it is likely working fine.

But if files seem to spool but never appear on the Printer, you have setup problems.

The first thing you need to know is what manual IP address has been used for the Printer. Then setup is straightforward (but not quite automatic) from there.

I have downloaded driver from USA, UK, Hong Kong (where I found driver for IOS 10.11 as well) and installation seemed successful with version 1.3 software installed. I have setup the right IP address for the printer. I have everything done just like what I have done for any other printer I have installed plus an IP address. The driver seems to be communicating with the printer but no printing ever comes out from the printer. I travel in my professional and I have used many other printers and I never had this experience before. I understand that many other Mac users are having similar situation. Can this be addressed to Apple or should it be taken care of by Sharp?

The printer is connected to a WIFI router using a lan cable. After downloading driver and installing, I used the automatic way to add the printer as it is appearing on the list of available printer and following all the steps to finish. The printer uses an assigned IP address on the network and so that is the IP address I used for setting up the printer. After finishing, I tried to print and the "Data" light on the printer keep blinking but no printout is coming. My Macbook is definitely connected to the printer in order to make the Data light blinking, but no printout comes out. One of our technical guy get a driver from some other discussion forum and after setting up, I manage to print in black & white but not in colour. I don't know why the "Original" driver doesn't work but this "Unknown source" driver can work, although the printout is only in black & white, but at least I can print. The printer driver seems to be communicating with the printer but it is not spooling the print file to the printer or the spool file got lost somewhere, or the spool file ended up in the printer which is not recognisable by the printer and so it came out with the Data blinking light. I have also tried adding the printer starting with the IP address and finding software option and finding the Sharp MX-2314N driver from the list. This ended up the same as before. I have never come across such cases with any printers. I like HP where they provide the universal driver that works for most of their printers. Sharp may be a strange animal to Mac. Thanks for your time in this anyway because I am almost giving up with this.

I have done just exactly the same as you mentioned even before reading your reply but it just never worked. In the printer dialogue box, it even said communicating with printer and then finished with spooling to printer from the dialogue box, but no printout came out from the printer. I have tried every way but it just doesn't seem to work. I have never come across this in my life. I have been using computer for long time and there are many printer drivers on my Macbook Pro and I have never seen anything like this before. I have done every ways that you can think of, but it just doesn't seem to work. There is communication between the Mac and the Sharp and I heard the clicking sound on the printer. But no printout ever came out.

However, one thing that I really can't understand is that why I can setup the printer with an unknown driver from somewhere that I can print (at least in black and white) but I can't print when I setup the printer using the original Sharp printer driver that I have downloaded. Even the latest 1.3 version software specially for IOS 10.11. The printer spooling dialogue box is showing the communication with printer but it just finished there without any printout coming out from printer.

I shall stay with my unknown driver and printer black & white and don't spend any more time in trying to make it right. It will never be right! I know whoever using computer should have a logical mind but this really doesn't sound logical AT ALL!!! Thank you very much for your time, I think I am giving up on this.
