When adding a payment card to Apple Pay, your card issuer may require you to verify your identity. Verification methods can vary by issuer, but can include sending you an Apple Pay verification code that must be entered via the Wallet app in order to complete the process of adding your card to Apple Pay.
This is a one-time process.
When paying with Apple Pay in stores and within apps using your iPhone, you will only need to use Touch ID (or, if you have not enabled this feature, your iPhone passcode).
