Q: weblinks don't work after exporting to HTML

I have, in the recent past, created a keynote presentation with internal links (to other slides within the presentation) and exported the whole thing to an HTML file. That worked PERFECTLY for me. Now, however, I need to do the same thing (export to HTML) with a different presentation that include external links to web pages. The first external link of the presentation works perfectly, but NONE of the other (very many links!!) work after exporting to HTML. What's going on?

Is it a bug or something corrupted in the file, or can I do something to convince Keynote to work with me on this? This was an older presentation that I had made using keynote from iWork 2008 and I just upgraded it to 6.6.2 format. Can I still use this presentation as an HTML file or am I out of luck? I did export to PDF and the links seem to be working fine there, but I much prefer working with an HTML for the presentation (it looks better than PDF and is it's easier to advance slides and place them properly on the screen).

Any thoughts, anybody?

Thanks!

The iWork '08 and '09 applications supported internal document bookmarks (links) that are no longer supported in releases of Pages v5 or Keynote v6 applications. If you still have Keynote '08 v4.0.4 or Keynote '09 v5.3, then use either of these to export your presentation with the expected (and supported) link functionality.

If you opened that older Keynote document in Keynote v6.6.2, and allowed it to convert to the newer document format, you likely overwrote (without a backup copy) your original Keynote '08 document with the new Keynote document format that is not backwards compatible with Keynote '08. Unfortunately, Keynote v6.6.2 can only export to Keynote '09, and not Keynote '08 format.

Thanks for the information, Viking. Having older files get messed up seems to be a common theme with recent software updates so what you say isn't surprising. The problem I'm actually having though, isn't with internal links (or bookmarks). The problem is with external web links not working after exporting to HTML.

Take a look at those external HTML links. They may need percent encoding to function correctly, if there are reserved characters in the URL.
