How to turn off Authentication to move files

Every time I move a file to my external HD, I get a popup to Authenticate the move and I must enter my computer pw. I've looked in System Preferences > Security & Privacy but can't find a place that turns this Authentication ON/OFF. How do I do this?

Is this a hard drive that is used by you alone?

The easiest way around the problem may be to set "Ignore ownership on this volume".

Select the drive in the Finder, press Command-I to open the Get Info window. Click the padlock and authenticate if necessary, then check the box at the bottom:
