Mac Pro 2013 won't connect to G technology hard drive

Hi there,

I've recently purchased a Mac Pro and I'm trying to transfer files from my 1 TB G technology mini hard drive to it. The files are from a backup that have a recently been transferred from my 2011 macbook pro. I tried using USB 3.0 cord since the Mac Pro does not have firewire outlets but it won't recognize my hard drive. The hard drive isn't showing any signs of working since I can't hear the fans turn on the drive. The hard drive connects perfectly to my macbook pro through firewire so should I purchase a firewire to thunderbolt adapter for this? I'm really hoping that I don't need to purchase a new external but i'd love to hear some options for this issue, it would be greatly appreciated.

Best Regards

Could be that the USB port does not supply sufficient power. Tiy drve does come with an jack that accepts a plug from an AC wall power unit.

The manual

nor the website

give the voltage for the power supply

Does it work via USB on your MacBook? Maybe the USB part is defective.

Thank you for the quick response.

I actually haven't tried connecting with the USB part to my macbook. I can do that when i get home though.

I'll have to look for the AC wall power unit and try that out as well. I ended up buying an adapter just in case but that should supply more power right? Or would I still need the AC wall power?

Best Regards
