Below is a User Tip about Wi-Fi issues. Suggest starting from the top and working down. Maybe one of them will help.
1) Perform a Forced Restart: Hold down the Home and Wake/Sleep buttons at the same time for about 15-20 seconds until the Apple logo appears. Allow device to restart.
2) Reset Network Settings: Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Rejoin the Network again.
3) Reboot Router/Modem: Unplug from power for 2 minutes and plug again. Update Router Firmware (check manufacturer’s support website for a newer FW). Also try different bands (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) and different bandwidths (20 MHz recommended for the 2.4 band).
4) Change to Google's DNS: Settings > Wi-Fi > Click on the Network, Delete all numbers under DNS and enter 8.8.8.8 or alternatively 8.8.4.4
5) Disable device prioritization on the router if this feature is available. Also disable any VPN apps and test Wi-Fi again.
6) Determine if other Wi-Fi devices on network are working well (other iOS devices, Macs, PCs).
7) Try device at another Network, i.e., neighbors’, public coffee house, etc.
8) Backup and Restore the Device using iTunes (ask for additional for details if desired).

I was having this problem as well--all of my other devices wifi connections worked fine, but my iPad Pro repeatedly turned off the wifi by itself and I had to keep turning it back on. I tried several things, but surprisingly the only thing that worked was turning ON airplane mode. I know, airplane mode is supposed to turn the wifi, etc., off, but when I turned on airplane mode it turned the wifi turn back on and so far the wifi is staying on (it's been about an hour). Before that the wifi was turning off every minute or so. Right now in the upper left corner of my iPad is the airplane icon and the wifi icon, both on simultaneously.
Thanks for this tip. I did all the suggestions from Apple - reset network settings - restored as new -- none of it worked.
Your suggestion works.
Recent discovery with the wifi option that constantly shuts off:
The most definitive fix I"ve'found, is to leave the iPad in airplane mode. Apple support has labeled this as a potential "hardware" issue which is not covered unless your device is still under warranty.
Since I have read well over 50 difference cases on faulty iPad device including the iPad air, iPad air 2, and the most recently released iPad models, I am sadly dissatisfied with my iPad air 2.
I want to write a letter to apple demanding a fix for this defect. In order to get there attention, I will need additional signers to the letter.
Is anyone willing to sign a letter via fax?
i got this fix from apple direct and it seems to be working.
* Turn off Find my iPhone in your settings, on the iPhone. Settings-->iCloud--->Find My iPhone, and disable.
1. Update computer's OS and Update iTunes
2. Connect iPhone to the Computer
3. Back up iPhone to computer, via iTunes or check that there's a back in www.icloud.com.
4. Restore iPhone to factory setting (Restore iPhone button in iTunes) https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201252
5. Unplug and proceed to Setup iPhone, as NEW, during the setup process at Apps & iTunes. IMPORTANT STEP
6. Test the device in it's default state to confirm its acting properly.
7. Restore from backup you have, once you've confirmed it's working. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204184

There seems to be a defect in iPads. I have fun dozens of complaints. I'll be taking my iPad to the Apple Store this week. Saying it's a hardware issue is unacceptable since we as consumers cannot perform hardware repairs ourselves. Please continue to complain to apple so we can encourage them to recall the product.
I've tried that several of times. It would work fine up till the next day. I'll be taking my iPad to the apple store tomorrow. Online support says it's a potential hardware issue. My iPad is well cared for so if it's hardware I claim a defect.
This is pretty sad, you should not have to bother with all of these "fixes", especially putting your device in airplane mode. This is unacceptable.
I'm having the same issue with my iPad mini retina 4, and it has something to do with the cellular modem. If I remove the SIM card (it was inactive and cellular modem is always toggled "off"), then restore the device, the wifi toggling itself "off" goes away. This is an obvious software bug.
My problem started after the most recent software update. I never saw it before and so far, it has only happened once, this morning. I was on the Internet and suddenly I was no longer connected. I looked at my settings and wireless was switched off. My first like of defense was to restart. It's too early to tell if it will happen again.
I do wonder if it's some kind of exploit.
Thanks for the fix, it's working for me right now. Come on apple, this is obviously some kind of software issue that needs an update to resolve.
This isn't a problem involving network connectivity, it's that the Wi-Fi on the device is turned off. when I re-enable it I am still connected and can continue on immediately
Sure. What's a fax?
I guess faxing is a bit outdated. After the recent update my wifi issue is fixed though they wanted me to pay for servicing it. I knew it could not be a hardware issue.
My iPad did NOT do this until the update.
